How To Improve Your Reproductive As A Woman

What does being a woman mean to you? The exact answer is different for every woman. Today, we are more free than we have ever been to create our own meaning and ignore the haters.

Being a woman can mean many things: nurturing, caring, peacemaking, loving, and life-giving. But it can just as easily, and often in the same woman, mean so much more. Being a warrior means: persisting, overcoming challenges, showing bravery, standing up for what we believe in, innovating, leading others, and exploring new ideas. Being a woman is a beautiful thing. You are beautiful.

As women, it is important that we take care of the areas of health that are unique to us. Often, female health issues are ignored by doctors. Sometimes, we ignore them ourselves, and so many women are suffering because of it. So many disorders affect women’s reproductive health. Often, they suffer silently. You may be one of them.

The health of your reproductive system and womb should be a priority in your life, as imbalances in those areas can impact your overall health in other ways. But how can you improve our reproductive health and womb wellness?

Have you ever tracked your menstrual cycle? If not, this is a wonderful place to start your journey to reproductive health. You can keep a journal, or you can use one of the many smartphone apps that are now available for that purpose. Many of these apps allow you to quickly and easily mark when your period starts while on the go. You can also track the length of your period and your flow during each day, along with marking any symptoms you may be having that day. Some of the apps can use that data to create an easy-to-understand graph that allows you to recognize any important changes in your cycle. Tracking your menstrual flow and the symptoms you experience can also allow you to use your self-compassion in the future if you know that certain symptoms typically accompany a specific part of your cycle.

Many women see the only significant part of their cycle as being while they are menstruating, as it is physically evidenced through bleeding. Women who are trying to conceive may also find the luteal phase, when an egg is released, to be important to conception. But your reproductive cycle is like a tide—the waves are just as powerful and just as present even when they aren’t breaking on the rocks.

In Setting My Compass: Sacred Paths to Wellness, Level 1, I go into detail about each part of your cycle. What can you expect? What is happening in your body? How can you best care for your physical, emotional, and spiritual selves during that time?

One of my greatest joys is helping women understand themselves and take control of their lives. Understanding the powerful ebbs and flows of your own body is an inherently crucial part of this process. I encourage every woman to pay better attention to her body—to understand her reproductive health and to nurture it in her everyday life.
